We all desire a sense of security, but sometimes, our need for control keeps us from fully trusting God. Holding on too tightly can lead to stress, anxiety, and exhaustion—because we were never meant to carry everything on our own. If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, you might be gripping life a little too tightly. Here are some signs that it’s time to surrender and trust God’s plan.
1️⃣ You Struggle to Rest or Relax
If your mind is always racing with “what ifs” and “next steps,” you might be relying too much on your own strength instead of God’s provision. Rest is a form of trust—when you truly believe God is in control, you can let go and breathe.
2️⃣ You Feel Anxious About the Future
Do you constantly worry about how things will turn out? Anxiety often stems from trying to control outcomes instead of trusting that God is already working things together for your good (Romans 8:28).
3️⃣ You Resist Change
If change makes you feel fearful or frustrated, it could be a sign that you’re gripping your plans instead of allowing God to guide your steps. Sometimes, He redirects us to protect or bless us in ways we don’t yet understand.
4️⃣ You Struggle to Delegate or Ask for Help
Do you believe that if you don’t do it, it won’t get done “right”? This mindset can make you feel isolated and exhausted. God designed us for community, and surrendering control means allowing others to step in and help.
5️⃣ You Pray—But Still Try to Fix Everything Yourself
If you’re praying about a situation but still trying to control the outcome, you might be treating prayer as a backup plan rather than your first response. Surrender means trusting that when you give something to God, He is truly handling it.
How to Start Letting Go
🌿 Pray and release – Ask God to take what you’ve been holding onto.
🌿 Breathe and trust – Remind yourself that His ways are higher than yours (Isaiah 55:8-9).
🌿 Take one small step of faith – Let go of one thing today and see how God moves.
God’s got you, sis. You don’t have to hold everything together—He already is. 💛

It’s comforting to be reminded that we don’t have to carry all our burdens alone. Resting in God’s plan can bring so much peace. When we let go of control, we open ourselves to His blessings. Trusting Him fully is a journey, but it’s worth it. How can we practice surrendering our worries more consistently?
Hello friend! I am happy that this post resonated with you. Practicing surrendering our worries is no doubt a daily practice. Just like anything we have to be the ones to want to put it into practice, and make it a habit. I recommend that one starts their day talking to God and saying out loud, “I am surrendering my thoughts, and outcomes of whatever the day brings, to You.” From this point, you have to BELIEVE in the love, joy and abundance that God is creating for you. I personally say this all the time, especially when I am at my ropes end. It’s at those moments when I feel God take control and help me with my worries. We actually went into the topic of surrendering in the Divine Sisterhood. I hope you are able to check it out! https://www.patreon.com/c/divinefemininewoman
I will leave you with this quote on the art of surrender,
“When we surrender our fate to something greater than us, we win the chance to become free. Free from limitations in our mind that hold us back. Free from letting people, timing and places control us. Free from thinking that we need to control our way through life. That we need to manage any and everything that comes up. The art of surrender is the ability to lean back into this comfortable pillow of trust. Knowing that things are working out for you better than you could ever imagine.
So, can you trust that He’s got you? Can you surrender and lean back because you were never in control of timing anyways?” – Raphaela Simone
