Letâs be honest: surrender sounds beautiful in prayer⊠until you wake up the next morning and want to snatch it all back.
You gave it to God yesterday â the relationship, the finances, the future â but today youâre anxious again, mentally planning a backup plan âjust in case.â
Weâve all been there. But true surrender isnât a one-time prayer â itâs a posture. A heart position. A quiet âyesâ to God, even when youâre tempted to take the wheel again.
Hereâs how to stay in a state of surrender â and not accidentally step back into self-control mode:
1. đž Recognize That Surrender Is Daily
Jesus said, âTake up your cross daily.â (Luke 9:23)
Surrender isnât just something we do at an altar call â itâs something we do at the kitchen sink, in traffic, when our timeline starts slipping.
Surrender is a daily decision to trust Him again, even when your feelings are fighting you.
âš Heart Check-In:
Ask yourself, âLord, is there anything Iâm trying to carry again that I already gave to You?â
2. đ Speak Surrender Over Your Situation
Life and death are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). So when control tries to creep in, use your voice.
Try praying:
âGod, I choose to surrender again today. I trust You more than I trust my plan. You are faithful, and You are good â even when I canât see it.â
Keep your words in agreement with your faith â not your fear.
3. đ Stay Rooted in the Word
You canât walk in surrender if you’re walking in self-wisdom.
Stay in the Word so Godâs thoughts can become your thoughts. His peace is wrapped in His promises.
Try memorizing:
Matthew 6:33 â âSeek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.â
Every time you feel yourself spiraling, run back to His Word.
4. âïž Journal the Surrender
Write down what you’re surrendering â and why.
Keeping a âSurrender Listâ in your journal can help you track what youâve laid down and remind you to leave it there.
Come back to it when you start to stress. Say:
âNope, I already gave that to God. Heâs handling it.â
5. đ€ Trust the Timing (Even When Itâs Silent)
One of the hardest parts about surrender is waiting. But just because God is silent doesnât mean Heâs absent.
Heâs a God of perfect timing.
If He hasnât moved yet, thereâs a reason. Surrender isnât âgiving upâ â itâs giving it to the only One who knows the full picture.
đș Final Thoughts
Sister, you were never meant to carry it all.
Surrender isnât weakness â itâs sacred strength.
Itâs choosing peace over pressure. Trust over tension. God over control.
Stay surrendered, and watch what He will do with the things youâve let go of.
đ âTrust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understandingâŠâ â Proverbs 3:5
If this blessed you, share it with a sister whoâs struggling to surrender. Letâs walk this faith journey together.
