🌿 5 Tips to Stay in a State of Surrender (Without Taking Back Control)

by Apr 26, 2025Blog2 comments

Let’s be honest: surrender sounds beautiful in prayer
until you wake up the next morning and want to snatch it all back.
You gave it to God yesterday — the relationship, the finances, the future — but today you’re anxious again, mentally planning a backup plan “just in case.”

We’ve all been there. But true surrender isn’t a one-time prayer — it’s a posture. A heart position. A quiet “yes” to God, even when you’re tempted to take the wheel again.

Here’s how to stay in a state of surrender — and not accidentally step back into self-control mode:

1. 🌾 Recognize That Surrender Is Daily

Jesus said, “Take up your cross daily.” (Luke 9:23)
Surrender isn’t just something we do at an altar call — it’s something we do at the kitchen sink, in traffic, when our timeline starts slipping.

Surrender is a daily decision to trust Him again, even when your feelings are fighting you.

✹ Heart Check-In:
Ask yourself, “Lord, is there anything I’m trying to carry again that I already gave to You?”

2. 🙌 Speak Surrender Over Your Situation

Life and death are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). So when control tries to creep in, use your voice.

Try praying:

“God, I choose to surrender again today. I trust You more than I trust my plan. You are faithful, and You are good — even when I can’t see it.”

Keep your words in agreement with your faith — not your fear.

3. 📖 Stay Rooted in the Word

You can’t walk in surrender if you’re walking in self-wisdom.
Stay in the Word so God’s thoughts can become your thoughts. His peace is wrapped in His promises.

Try memorizing:

Matthew 6:33 – “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Every time you feel yourself spiraling, run back to His Word.

4. ✍ Journal the Surrender

Write down what you’re surrendering — and why.
Keeping a “Surrender List” in your journal can help you track what you’ve laid down and remind you to leave it there.

Come back to it when you start to stress. Say:

“Nope, I already gave that to God. He’s handling it.”

5. đŸ€ Trust the Timing (Even When It’s Silent)

One of the hardest parts about surrender is waiting. But just because God is silent doesn’t mean He’s absent.

He’s a God of perfect timing.
If He hasn’t moved yet, there’s a reason. Surrender isn’t “giving up” — it’s giving it to the only One who knows the full picture.

đŸŒș Final Thoughts

Sister, you were never meant to carry it all.
Surrender isn’t weakness — it’s sacred strength.
It’s choosing peace over pressure. Trust over tension. God over control.

Stay surrendered, and watch what He will do with the things you’ve let go of.

📖 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding
” – Proverbs 3:5

If this blessed you, share it with a sister who’s struggling to surrender. Let’s walk this faith journey together.
